An Open Letter: To The Girl That Over Thinks

To the girl that over thinks,

I know that at this point you are too nauseous to even read this, but just power through it - like you always do. I know that your hands are ice cold and a shade too pale. I know that you have to remind yourself to breathe (Take a deep breath as you read this). I know it's hard to concentrate. I know it's hard to focus on anything other than the continuous whirlwind in your head. I know that you're reeling.

I just want to tell you it's okay.

I know that the pressure is building in your head. I know it feels like you're about to explode.

I also know that you're going to be fine and that you probably won't believe me, but that's fine too, because when it does end up being okay, I'm just happy that you will be able to breathe without that massive weight on your chest.

I know that you haven't slept, and that if you have, it wasn't even worthwhile. I know that the thought of eating is unfathomable but I need you to take care of yourself because sometimes you do damage to yourself that can't be undone.

Don't be weighted down by the stress. Don't let those around you weigh you down even further, if they are not understanding. There are those who do understand. Don't feel guilt for feeling, it doesn't matter what you're feeling, you should never feel guilty.

One more thing, it's easy to be cynical, it's easy to be sad, it's easy to want to just lay in bed, it's easy to feel this way. All you can do is, try.

Love Always,
Nicole

Tracks of the Weeks (Again)

So I've done it again, and I'm just going to blame it on the fact that my internet is fucking around and I got a new job.

Sorry,

I'll be better, probably.

Anyway, just be happy, 'cause two new tracks of the week.

Black Space (T. Swizzle cover) - Our Last Night

These guys are always on top form when it comes to their covers, so I suggest you check those out as well.

King - Years & Years

I am not exaggerating when I say that these guys can do no wrong. Pretty much every song these guys have released have been on point. They are easily my favourites at the moment - but I will go into more detail about that in a post coming soon.  Also, the music video is SO phenomenal.

Till next week. (Maybe)

Love always,
Nicole.

Real

If, like me, you're a huge Skins fan (UK teen drama, not rolling paper) then you will have seen this face (Olly Alexander) in Series 7: Pure.

and when it comes to cute boys with curly hair, I will inevitably google you, discover that you are a lead singer of a band and listen to your music religiously. That my friends, is how I discovered Years and Years.

"I Wish I Knew" is the first track that I heard, and almost instantly fell in love with it. They have a certain atmosphere about them that is beyond unique. Olly's crooning mixed with the electro chaos as confetti falls is pretty much the greatest.

Years and Years - I Wish I Knew
(Warning: this video is an explosion of awkward dancing, it's phenomenal)

The band try something different with the song "The Whale" from the soundtrack of The Dish and the Spoon (Olly was great in the movie, too!). This stripped down version of Years and Years allows for Olly's voice to come through a lot stronger and it's gorgeous.

Years and Years - The Whale

The London trio have just recently released a new single, "Real". With the EP of the same name coming out 17 February. "Real" is infectious, make sure to catch it.

Love Always,
Nicole

Unhappy

Unhappy. adj. Not satisfied: displeased or discontented.

I've been struggling a bit lately and I think that's why I haven't written in awhile. Here's some music that's been getting me by.

Crystal Fighters - Love Natural

Sleeping with Sirens - Roger Rabbit

Grouplove - Ways to Go

I'll be back soon.

Love always,
